One design triggers another!

When Jodyann and I were putting together one of the cards in our recent OSW template we made a greeting for one using a stamp from Stampin' Up!'s Occasional Greetings - Happy Mother's Day. We stamped the greeting in Chocolate Chip ink on to Creamy Caramel cardstock and it so looked like leather that Jodyann came up with the idea of creating a tag like on the back of a pair of jeans.

So after finishing our OSW cards (16 in all) we started to create a card with the front panel resembling the back of a pair of jeans - I also needed to create a card for my son Dylan's 19th birthday tomorrow and thought this might be a nice one to do! As we were putting it together, although I liked it I thought Dylan doesn't wear denim jeans so it wouldn't be one I would do for him, so we made it a feminine pair!

We stamped the Sanded background stamp with Not Quite Navy ink onto Ballet Blue cardstock and then restamped the Sanded stamp with Whisper White ink across the opposite direction on the cardstock. We cut out a strip for the jean's band and two pieces for the top of each of the trouser legs and these pieces we laid different ways to give the effect of different grains on the material. We overlapped the pieces slightly to which we applied black pen faux stitching. We stamped two pockets from the retired stamp set Pocket Fun and applied a Designer Brad (which I had coloured using a reinker and Crystal Effects).

We recreated our original inspiration of the leather tag using Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the greeting on to Creamy Caramel cardstock, although this time it was not quite as striking as the Mother's Day greeting because that had a heavy inked word. However, when the faux stitching was applied we were much happier with the result.

We then tucked in some Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper (in the new 2009 Summer Mini Catalogure) to replicate a pretty shirt and adhered this all to Kraft cardstock and here is our creation...

Let me know what you think! I think they are cute!

I think it is really effective mae, I love the simple way to make the faux denim so much easier than dragging ink pads about the place!
