I can't believe that it has been a week since my last post, but then, yes I can when I think back over my week! I worked a couple of 9 to 5 days at H&R Block, spent a day in bed with the flu (which still is lingering), spent a day completing necessary tasks such as new tyres on my car and the usual domestic duties (in between emptying the tissue box!).
It was not my week to design for Just Add Ink but I still wanted to 'play' with the challenge which was to 'Just Add ... EMBOSSING!' and I love to emboss, there are so many different ways to do it - dry embossing, clear embossing, emboss resist, faux metal ... the list goes on! If you want to learn some different embossing techniques, consider booking a workshop with me and then have the opportunity to earn some lovely FREE Stampin' Up! products while having some stamping fun with your friends.
I often do a Christmas in July workshop (but haven't this year!) and so I thought I would make a Christmas card to join in this 'embossing' challenge and I also decided to stay away from the traditional green/red colour theme. I used the 'faux metal technique' where I embossed gold powder on to Glossy White card - repeating this several times - to give a thick layer. I inked up my stamp with Versamark Ink and then reheated the gold embossed piece before stamping my image on to my piece of card. This gives the effect of 'faux metallic gold'.
Here is my completed card and a couple of close-up shots:
Stamps: Season of Joy
Cardstock: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Kraft
Ink: Soft Suede, Versamark
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, Bitty Buckles (non-SU! product), Sponge Daubers
I was really please how this card turned out and I might have to remember to include this design in my traditional Christmas Stamp-a-Stack to be held in November.
I am sorry I have been so quiet here this past week, but I think the coming week will be much the same - this week I am working four days at H&R and my parents will also be visiting as my father has a specialist medical appointment in Hobart, which I also attend with them! Busy, busy, busy! I hope your week goes well and thanks for stopping by.
