Our dog had an eye operation today!

Our (actually my daughter's) dog Chloe, who is only about three years old, had an eye operation today to remove her bulging and damaged eye thanks to our (now deceased) cat Sammy! Sammy actually died from being hit by a car, not because of what she did to Chloe, but I think she was distracted by the mouse that she had caught which was still in her mouth when we found her on the side of the road. When Chloe was a puppy and only a few weeks old, our cat Sammy took a swipe at her and clawed her in the eye puncturing the cornea. This has resulted in a virtually blinded eye which has gradually got bigger and developed glaucoma. The vet believes she was probably living in constant pain and discomfort and that the eye should be removed, so today was her surgery. I felt so bad leaving her at the vet's this morning because she doesn't like going there.

Here is a before shot...

And, here is an after shot...

She is one sad looking dog at the moment, although very well medicated. She needs to keep this protective shield on for about 14 days when she can have the stitches removed. Hopefully, this surgery will give her a better outcome and she can be a more happier dog. Although she is very happy when she is taken to the beach to run after the seagulls and to chase pine cones - her favourite beach toy!

Sorry, no crafting today just a day at the office completing 10 tax returns during my 8 1/2 hour shift! My crafting time might also be a bit restricted over the next few days as I have promised to help hubby lay wooden flooring in our office area, replacing the smelly carpet. As this is the room that Chloe has a tendency to use as a toilet if she can not get outside due to doors being left completely shut! A wooden floor will be much easier to clean if she does this again, which has not been for a while now.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you don't mind me sharing what has been happening in our lives today.

Oh poor Chloe - I'm glad she got through the surgery okay. She sure looks sad and sorry. I hope life improves lots and lots and there is no more pain for her.

Hi Mae, I know how you felt when your poor little fur baby Chloe came home from her surgery, I went through exactly the same thing a couple of months ago when our little kitten Polly had to have her eye removed. She is so much happier now though and runs around as if she never had it in the first place. Good luck with avoiding that bucket, it really hurts on the back of your legs! Lots of inky hugs from Charmaine :-)
