Friday, October 3, 2014's another baby card and JAI challenge!

This week's challenge from Just Add Ink is from Trish who is also expecting a baby and so it is appropriate that the challenge is...

I am also on a roll at the moment making a few cards on this theme as friends and relatives alike have been popping them out too...babies that is not cards.

So I just had to make one for this challenge and as I had already made two baby boy cards (almost identical) and one baby girl card in the same style, I thought I would challenge myself to change styles and to make another baby girl card in a pink monochromatic colour theme.

This is what I came up with...

I was quite happy how this card came out in the end as I let it sit on my desk for a while (not stuck down) and played around with the layout, switching ribbons, swapping elements etc until I was satisfied and stuck it all together.

Pop on over to Just Add Ink and check out what other beautiful baby projects the other team members created and then find some time to join in our challenge this week.

Baby Cards

As I said in a previous post I had some baby cards that I needed to make and so as I have been lacking in creativity and inspiration lately...why not get inspired by some of the talented demonstrators that I know of!

One such lady is Teneale Williams and she makes the most beautiful cards, works of art actually, and she is also a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator so uses lots of the tools and resources that I have access to.

The two following cards have been CASED from one on her blog here and I also took inspiration from the way she photographed her card too!

Although the 'its a boy' card may look like Teneale's I am sure if we placed them side by side in real life they would be different as I know she puts a lot of time and dimension into hers with lots of detail (just check out a video of how she makes a card here).

I followed her use of Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz and agree that even though they are two different tones of green they do work well together on this design.

I can see why she was happy with her card because I was too and so I thought I would replicate the design into an 'it's a girl' card as I needed one of those as well.

With this one I just swapped the stamp I used from 'little feet' to 'little hands' and added a couple of cute little pink buttons as well on the front.

I didn't have the Little Additions stamp set so couldn't add the cute little jumpsuits that she did on the inside of her card and I also had to improvise to add the little red hearts.

Thanks so much for the inspiration Teneale.

Just Add Ink #233 - Sketch Challenge

Well it has been two weeks since my last post and I have the second card I made last time I played in my craft room, two weeks ago!

Being a Friday, it also means it is Just Add Ink challenge time and this week it is a sketch challenge...

Here is the card that I made using the sketch as inspiration and a new stamp set I added to my collection By The Tide.

And the inside is stamped a bit too...

I have a different card I really want to do with this stamp set that was shown to me by one of my customers...but that will have to be another time! At the moment I am trying to get some baby cards made as a few little ones have entered the world recently.

Why don't you have a go at using this sketch as inspiration for your next card and don't forget to check out how the other team members interpreted it over at Just Add Ink.

Thankful for you

With a day off yesterday I was thankful that I could spend a morning with my daughter just chatting and sharing mother/daughter stuff. I also spent some time sorting some paperwork with my husband who I have been thankful for over these last couple of busy months. I have been working long hours and he has been off work and at home, which has ended up in him being chief cook and as soon I have walked in the door he heats it up ready for my. How lucky am I?

Later yesterday afternoon instead of then doing some housework or other chores I got to play in my craft room and as I was feeling in a thankful and creative mood I made a card for today's Just Add Ink challenge. Today it is a colour challenge and they are a beautiful colour combination as you will see from the projects created by the team. Here are the colours...

Here is the card that I created with the colours above...

With such a pretty card front I thought I should carry some of this beauty over to the inside...

Maybe when I feel inspired I should actually write in this card a special message to my daughter and tell her how thankful I am to have her as part of my life. Always nice to receive handmade cards and not just on your birthday or special occasions. We should always check on our friends and family and make sure they are ok, don't you think?

I am so thankful for so many things in my life and also for the wonderful team at Just Add Ink who have allowed me to slacken off with my Design Team commitments for a few months while the 'busy tax season' is upon me and dims my creativity! I don't even get creative with clients figures as that would not do for the ATO!

Have a lovely weekend. I will be spending part of it working and little of it planning my upcoming NZ trip with one of my BFFs.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop over at Just Add Ink to see what inspiration the other team members have for you with this lovely colour combo!

New Stampin' Up! YouTube Videos on the Holiday Catalogue

Sorry for the lack of inspiration here on my blog lately, but my daytime job has been keeping me extremely busy and tired.

However, not to worry as the Stampin' Up! training team has been hard at work and they have some great videos for you to provide the inspiration for you while mine is lacking! They have some great videos based on the new Holiday Catalogue that is out (contact me if you would like your own hardcopy).
