JAI #200 - Inspiration Challenge

Hi and welcome to my blog whether a regular follower or a new visitor, I hope you find some inspiration here.

Today, being Friday means another challenge from Just Add Ink and this particular one is not only an inspirational picture one, but also a milestone for JAI...our 200th Challenge! How exciting is that!

Thanks to our loyal followers and participants we are still able to bring you regular weekly challenges and we love seeing what you create.

This week's inspirational photo was found by Nikki and it is such a cheery one, full of sunshine or that it how it makes me feel anyway.

Although I knew which stamp set and coordinating die I wanted to use for my card this week, based on the daisies in the photo, I wasn't exactly sure where to go from there. So I just started getting my flowers stamped and cut out and then found some DSP that I thought would complement and went from there.

Mae's Stampin' Supplies:

Just Add Ink #199...Sketch Challenge

It's time again to share with you another Just Add Ink challenge and this week we have a sketch challenge put together for us by the lovely Tina.

Lately I have been enjoyed playing around with my DSP, as I have some much of it, and making feminine cards. So this time I thought I would challenge myself to make a masculine card and with this sketch it made it a little easier for me.

Here is my card...

I have also been enjoying decorating the insides of my cards too and so I carried on the nautical theme to the inside...

This will go nicely in my card collection for the next male birthday, most likely a nephew, as they enjoy receiving my handmade cards...if it doesn't get sold at one of my market days!

Mae's Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: The Open Sea, Itty Bitty Banners, Gorgeous Grunge
Cardstock: Not Quite Navy (retired colour), Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
Ink: Not Quite Navy (retired), Early Espresso
Accessories: Nautical Expedition DSP, Circle Framelits & Punches, Banner Framelits, Bakers Twine, Snail Adhesive & Stampin' Dimensionals

I hope you can join us in this challenge this week and don't forget to pop on over to Just Add Ink to see what the other DT have created to inspire you, such diversity there.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the lovely comments on last week's post on JAI's Blog Hop product focus, I enjoyed receiving them.

JAI #198 - Blog Hop!

Hi! Today Just Add Ink are starting off 2014 with a Blog Hop showcasing the new Envelope Punch Board and the two Card Thinlit Dies.

You may well have 'hopped' in here from the lovely Louise Sharp's blog, but if not, feel free to start the Blog Hop from here and hop around the DT blogs to see what beautiful creations have been made using these great products and to provide you with further inspiration. If you get lost along the way either pop back here for the list of DT Blogs to visit (see below) or go to the JAI Blog for the same.

I have had so much fun playing with the Envelope Punch Board as it not only makes envelopes to fit the various size cards you make (other than the standard size), but it is also very useful for making gift boxes and other projects. I also love the style of the corner rounder option it has and use this often on my projects.

As I wanted to showcase both products, and I love DSP, I thought I would combine everything to make a coordinated gift set. My project was inspired by the fact that one of the DT members, the beautiful Nikki, had celebrated a milestone birthday on Christmas Day and my sister, Jannette, is celebrating the same in February.

Here is my combined set...

The Modern Medley DSP pack is such an elegant and classy set to use for many projects and I thought it went so well with a milestone birthday celebration. Using the Circle Card Thinlit Die I created a card with an additional flap for my 'message' space, rather than just the basic card it cuts out.

I used a bit of Very Vanilla Seam Binding to help keep the card closed and decorate it up a bit further.

As this was for a special birthday I also took extra time to decorate the inside of the card. As you can see I haven't just made a basic card from the die but following measurements on Claire Daly's blog and also watching Patty Bennett's video I was able to make the card how I wanted, with an extra folded panel.

The inside greeting I actually made using my My Digital Studio (MDS) program to increase the text size to perfectly fit my circle and to have the ampersand (&) sit where I wanted above the word 'fabulous' (Fabulous Phrases stamp set).

A beautifully coordinated envelope was also required to go with such a lovely card and what easier way to make it, than with the Envelope Punch Board. So easy! I also followed directions from Mary Fish on making my envelope liner with a limited piece of DSP and keeping the cute curved edges.

I had some additional tea light candles left after making Christmas gifts that I wanted to box them up to match, in a more compact box than SU!'s Decorative Window Gift Boxes (which are a bit big for just 4 small tea lights alone), and found these measurements on Cindy Brumbaugh's blog which worked perfectly. I used a piece of window sheet DSP from the Quatrefancy Specialty pack to create a little window in my box.

The little bow to decorate the box was also made using the Envelope Punch Board and I found a great little tutorial on how to do this by Paula Knall. Again, so easy to do!

Stampin' Up! products make it so easy to make beautifully coordinated cards and gifts, inspire our creativity and allow us to inspire others. I love being a SU! demonstrator and being part of a great challenge team as Just Add Ink.

Now that you have seen my project (and hopefully taken the time to read my post) you are ready to 'hop' on over to the talented Narelle Farrugia's blog to see what beautiful projects she has created with these products. Simply click on the 'Blog Hop Button' below.

Have fun 'hopping' around and if you get lost don't forget to come back here for the list of DT members and/or pop in to the JAI Blog for the same guidance.

Enjoy!

Sneak Peak...

Well I got to play this afternoon, while hubby was sleeping and tonight after he left for his next night shift, with some of the new products coming out in the Occasions Mini Catalogue (starting 28 January).

If you know me, then you know that I LOVE Designer Series Papers (DSP), and especially how they make it easy to coordinate colours and therefore, cardstock, ink and stamps!

I also enjoy making things for the local market and our next one is next Sunday, so what better way to play with my new products than make items for next weekend. I had some left over tea lights from Christmas gifts I made, and found with using my new Envelope Punch Board, I could make more petite boxes than the current Decorative Window Gift Boxes that Stampin' Up! have, which are a little big for just only 4 small tea lights.

So here are a couple of the boxed tea lights using some lovely new DSP called Fresh Prints.

Not only does Stampin' Up!'s DSP make projects easy to come together but also their coordinated products do as well. With a coordinated Petite Petals Stamp Set and the matching Petite Petals Punch, along with some more of that beautiful Fresh Prints DSP, I managed to quickly create two very different cards.

My first card is a thank you card...

Not sure if it is my eyes, the patterned paper or my poor photographic skills but the above image looks a bit blurry to me!

My second card was going to be a birthday card but somehow ended up being a wedding card, maybe I was in a romantic mood because of it being our Wedding Anniversary today...

I had fun playing today with my new products and if you would like your own copy of the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration Catalogue, place an order through me or via my Online Store during January, and I will pop them in the post to you (as soon as they arrive because silly me forgot to add them to my preorder and had to order them separately!).

How exciting!

I am excited because, not only is it my 28th Wedding Anniversary today, but also my pre-order for the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalogue (starts on 28th January) has arrived...I can't wait to see what projects I can make with these lovely new products. Another great reason I love being a demonstrator the chance to get new products early at at my demonstrator discount! Interested in finding out more about joining SU! just ask!

If you would like a copy of your very own Occasions Mini Catalogue AND Sale-A-Bration (SAB) Catalogue, then simply place an order with Me or through my Online Store in January and I will send them to you FREE.  Just make sure you allow Demonstrator contact if shopping online with me!  This is available to Australian residents only, sorry!

You will also receive, by ordering through my online store this month, a ticket in the draw for a FREE Label Bracket Punch (my promotion only, not SU!). One ticket for every $50 worth of product (i.e. $50 = 1 ticket, $100 = 2 tickets and so on).

Don't forget to also follow me on Facebook for any quick updates and promotions I might share through that medium.

Off for a coffee now with some lovely ladies...hopefully, later today I might find some time to create (while hubby is sleeping as he has just come off a night shift, tomorrow evening we will celebrate with a movie and dinner, as he has night shift again tonight.)

Did I succeed?

The title of my blog post was going to be in relation to the card I just finished making but after noticing that I hadn't blogged since last Wednesday, and also re-reading my blog post about my craft room, it could also relate to that!

Did I succeed in cleaning up my craft room?...well, sort of! It is tidy enough that I can create some things, but not organised like I was planning.

Did I succeed in getting my Silhouette Cameo out of the box and in use?...yes! It is out of the box and on my desk, with a bit of rearranging, and I have cut out a couple of box templates and a delicate frame, but I have not yet completed the projects, so I won't post them here yet.

Onto the card that I just made and for which my post heading was intended for. Did I succeed...in making a masculine yet romantic card for my husband? This Saturday we are celebrating our 28th Wedding Anniversary...where has the time gone...and I wanted to make a special card for Gary to know how much I still love and cherish him.

Here is my card, what do you think? Did I succeed in making a masculine yet romantic card?

As this was a very special card I had to also decorate the inside...

Mae's Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Etcetera DSP
Ink: Night of Navy, Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Teeny Tiny Sentiments (front greeting was created on MDS), Petite Pairs, Loving Thoughts, Gorgeous Grunge, Banner Blast (SAB)
Accessories: Transparent Buttons, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Big Shot Framelits Apothecary Accents, Linen Thread, Midnight Muse Satin Stitched Ribbon, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals,Sticky Strip, Sponge Daubers

My husband is a nurse and he is working a night shift on Saturday, our actual Anniversary, so we are having a date night on Sunday evening, which is also the last day of my holidays. We are going to the movies and then dinner at a restaurant. Should be a lovely evening and a lovely end to my holidays.

If you are keen to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) my card and want to get any additional Stampin' Up! supplies you don't have, don't forget you can always shop 24/7 via my online store (Australian residents only). Items that are currently available I have linked up directly to the store in my list of Stampin' Supplies. If you are not already a customer of mine, you can simply sign up and make sure you select me as your SU! demonstrator, it is as easy as that!

For customers who order through my online store from now until the end of the month, 31 January 2014, I will be entering you in the draw for a Label Bracket Punch. One ticket for every $50 worth of product (i.e. $50 = 1 ticket, $100 = 2 tickets and so on).

Maybe the view from my craft room tonight had something to do with the creative juices flowing...a beautiful night.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to let me know if you think this card fits my description.

JAI 2013 In Review

Happy New Year! I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and that 2014 will be a good year for you.

I have had my father come and stay with us, since just before Christmas, and he has just gone back to Emmerton Park today. It was an enjoyable time and I am sure he enjoyed the break from the nursing home and spending time with family members down south of Tassie. So no crafting time for me during this time.

Today's post is to share with you some of my favourite projects for our Just Add Ink challenges during 2013 and you will see the other DT favourites over on the JAI blog (that post will go live Jan 3rd, I didn't read the fine print and posted mine Jan 1st!).

This would be my favourite, which I actually gave my father for his birthday in November this year...

This was a close second, from a recent challenge...

I also loved making these cute owl post-it note holders for the Christmas market...

Just another couple of my favourites from the year...

Don't forget to pop on over to the JAI blog to see our 'Year in Review' post and to link up your favourite project for 2013.

We hope you will join us again in 2014 for further creative challenges and to share what you love with others. I have another week off from work, so hopefully I can find some time to tidy up my craft space, and then to find time to craft! I also want to play with my Silhouette Cameo, which can you believe it, has not even been out of the box!

Happy New Year and I hope you find time to be creative as I hope to!
