Father's Day card

Well today I had my first day at home alone in months and it was so nice, even though I spent the morning doing housework and necessary phone calls, I did manage to get some time in my craft room in the afternoon.

As Father's Day is coming this Sunday, 3 September, here in Australia and I am actually going to be up in Smithton for the weekend I thought I should get my act together and make a card and then I can hand deliver my dad his card this year.

My card base is Early Espresso cardstock and I used a panel of Sahara Sand for the main piece. On to this I stamped with Early Espresso, using the stamping off technique to add depth to the forest of trees, the pine tree stamp from the Lovely As A Tree set.

I then used a circle mask and sponged some Sahara Sand ink to create a moon and sponged some Sahara Sand around the trees. I then stamped with Early Espresso part of the bird stamp from the High Tide stamp set.

I white embossed my Happy Father's Day greeting from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and then after adhering on my front panel I tied it off with some Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

I carried over my theme to the inside of my card and stamped off a few more tree tops and added some more birds in Early Espresso ink.

I was quite pleased how this card turned out, although a small greeting is a little hard to get a clear embossed image, but you can still read what the sentiment is.

This basic card design was quite quick to put together and I think I can see myself doing this again with some different colours like Garden Green or even Basic Black, with different sentiments... what do you think?
