Just Add Babies for the JAI Challenge this week!

Well I feel like I have lots of things I should be doing, and the last few days have been occupied with my beautiful grandchild Theodore, that I thought "you know what I am going to take some time out of this Sunday, with it's cooler, windy weather and take some time doing what I love...stamping" and so that is what I have done!

I didn't quite know what I wanted to do other than get creative and so the best starting point is with either casing a project from the beautiful Stampin' Up! catalogues or finding a challenge site... and one of my favourites of course is the Just Add Ink challenge blog. This week they have a "Just Add Babies" challenge and of course I love baby cards so that is what I set out to create.

I used the gorgeous Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper and decided to create an Eclipse Card using the colours from this DSP. I used one of the beautiful star patterned pieces and coordinated that with Soft Sea Foam and Night of Navy, which made a great shadow panel for my eclipsed letters. This is the card I made for this challenge today.

I first made my card base out of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and then cut a panel of Night of Navy cardstock approx. 1/4" smaller than the card front and then a piece of DSP approx. 1/16" smaller than the Night of Navy panel as I wanted a thinner border of NN. I then cut my 'BABY' letters out of the DSP with our Large Letters Famelits Dies and adhered the main DSP piece to my NN cardstock panel with Tombow Liquid Glue.

I carefully used my letters to adhere the insides of each 'B' and 'A' to the NN cardstock and then using our Mini Stampin' Dimenstionals (and some trimming for narrower sections) I raised the letters up off the main panel, creating the eclipse effect. I think the Night of Navy gives a nice shadow effect to the raised letters, don't you?

I then diecut the word 'welcome' using our Well Written Framelits Dies out of NN cardstock and adhered that with our Fine Tip Glue Pen. I also decided to diecut a little Soft Sea Foam butterfly out and using a rolled up glue dot adhered that to the letter A.

I didn't find that I had any Silver & Pool Party Baker's Twine (maybe I didn't look hard enough!) so I used some retired plain Pool Party Baker's Twine to wrap around my front panel and tied off in a neat little bow.

I then adhered this panel to my card front and added three little Pool Party Enamel Stars (did you notice them?), also retired product, over top of stars on the DSP panel. I then got a little carried away with my Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and added some glimmer to my welcome, butterfly and several of the stars on the DSP!

Carrying over this colour theme, and panel sizing, to the inside of the card I added a strip of DSP to the bottom of a Whisper White panel, mounted it on Night of Navy cardstock, and then wrapped around one row of Pool Party Baker's Twine to complete my card.
