Lovely As A Tree is finally retiring!

I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator now for 12 years and every year the Lovely As A Tree stamp set has been in the Annual Catalogues, however, it is finally retiring and it will not feature in our upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue. 😢

In my first year as a demonstrator it took me months before I actually bought is as I thought 'it's just a tree stamp' what am I going to do with that one...well once I got it I loved it! Although it is retiring it will still be staying on my shelf for retiring stamps that I can't get rid of and I will continue to use it for many products. Check out these past blog posts where I have used Lovely As A Tree, click here, click here and click here. As you can see a very versatile stamp set and I have made an abundance of Christmas cards with this set, especially that beautiful big pine!

To see it off in style I thought I would use this set today to make my brother a Happy 50th Birthday card and I was happy with the result. Although it did take a little while for me to get my layout to a way that I was satisfied with. I had various elements but just didn't know exactly how to place them and so kept moving things around on the card front, before sticking anything down, and walked away from my craft desk a time or two to get a better perspective. Do you do this when crafting?

I felt it needed something under the tree image yet I couldn't decide on what, dsp strip, thread or to completely move it around. In the end I decided to add just some linen thread and a strategically placed greeting.

I actually embossed the tree with black embossing powder (think I forgot to add Versamark ink to my list of supplies used below) and then using my Blender Pens added some shades of green and touch of yellow to create an autumn effect. Did I achieve the look?

The card base was Sahara Sand cardstock with elements of Early Espresso and of course being a masucline card, with a tree image, the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper just coordinated so well together.

I love my large number dies, although now retired, they too will never leave my craft room. The same can be said for my large letter dies which are retiring with this current catalogue. So if you would like to get a set for yourself order them here directly on my Online Store - Item #141712.

As it is important to celebrate this BIG milestone for my brother, whose birthday is this Good Friday, I thought the 'Hip Hip Hooray!' greeting was perfect to connect the two elements of the tree and numbers together.

I know he doesn't follow me on social media, too busy on the farm and milking cows, so I think it is safe for me to blog about it before I take a little break over Easter.

My Stamparatus came to my rescue this afternoon as I had put my whole card together before stamping the greeting inside and when this happens I usually get my greeting on an angle or not stamped clearly enough. However, with our fantastic stamp positioning tool this did not happen and I could restamp the image until I was happy with the intensity of the ink.

If you have any stamp sets still on your wishlist like this one, Lovely As A Tree, I would encourage you to order them now before they are gone and new ones come to replace them in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue (available to order from 3 June). See my retired product links below.

Here is a close-up of my birthday card and I am sure he will like it or maybe he will like the present more. Looking forward to celebrating with him this Easter and catching up with family.

I hope you all enjoy your Easter break and thanks for stopping by and come back after Easter when I hope to create again.

Yay! Stampin’ Up! heard the concerns and confusion and they’ve updated the retiring list for the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue with the current stamp sets that will be carrying over to the new catalogue (just in Cling-mount style rather than clear-mount or wood-mount) highlighted in gray.

Click here for the updated 2018-19 Annual Catalogue Retiring List.
Click here for the 2019 Occasions Catalogue Retiring List.  This list was not updated as it did not change.

Suggestion: if any of the stamp sets (highlighted in gray) are on your wishlist and carryover to the new catalogue, AND ARE PART OF A CURRENT BUNDLE, then I would suggest you don't wait to order them (just because they will still be available) but order them now while you can get two great coordinated products cheaper, stamp set + die/punch, for a 10% discount! When they are in the new catalogue they will not be as a bundle and therefore, not discounted!
