Just Add Ink #455..."Sympathy"

Well this week's challenge over at Just Add Ink was so appropriate for a card I needed to make for today's farewell to Ben, a nephew of one of my best friends, and it was an amazing farewell in the amount of people who turned up to celebrate his life. It showed how much he was loved and thought of and how much he touched so many other's lives.

Last night I was originally playing around with a non-traditional style card and stamp set, with a black and white theme with a 'pop' of colour, however, it just didn't feel right. So I turned to our lovely 'retiring' Graceful Glass 6" X 6" Designer Vellum and started colouring with our beautiful bright Stampin' Blends.

I was really happy how it turned out. I coloured the back of the panel with the blends and then I smoothed a light covering of liquid glue over the back and adhered it to a piece of Whisper White.

The card base I had run through my Big Shot with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add some texture. This embossing folder will create a subtle structural impression onto your paper to make it look classy and handmade.

I added white embossed greeting and punched it out with our Tailored Tag Punch and placed some black glittered ribbon underneath, keeping the ribbon in place with sticky dots, and then raising it up with some stampin' dimensionals (you always need these!).

Even though it was a sympathy card I couldn't help myself and had to add some bling with a few strategically placed Share What You Love Artisan Pearls on the greeting tab and a couple of flower centres.

My earliest cards I would randomly decorate the inside, however, now I feel that if you create such a beautiful card for someone and put so much love and thought into the front then you should carry over something of the look into the inside. Sometimes this may be stamping, or a strip of DSP, and in this case it was a strip of washi tape from the black and white Pick a Pattern Washi Tape.

These are not often easy cards to make but when you make them with love and with the person specifically in mind who will receive them then that does help in creating them. Do you find that?

You can find the list of Stampin' Up! products that I used below, other than the specific colour Stampin' Blends, as I just had several sitting out on my desk and used a wide variety of bright and vibrant colours to get the look I wanted. You can view all the available Stampin' Blends click here.

Don't forget this month's limited-release product medley 'Everything is Rosy' for a coordinated collection of beautiful products for only $139.

When placing an order through my store don't forget to use this month's host code to receive a gift from me and thank you card next month.
