Farewell Card in an hour!

Motherly love or just that I love to create?

Today I received a phone call from my daughter asking if I could create a personalised, larger sized card, for a colleague who was leaving and could I get it done by this afternoon?

Well this call was just before lunch and I needed to make that for hubby and I as well as getting us to doctor appointments in the early afternoon. I realised I would have just over an hour to get this made and of course I said Yes!

Thankfully the lady's name wasn't too long and I could cut it out of large letters and use the eclipse technique to make it a focus. I also used a full piece of A4 cardstock and folded it in half to create my larger sized card base.

I had all my new designer series paper packs still on my desk after cutting for my paper shares and so had some beautiful pieces to choose from...I just loved the Bird Ballad DSP.

A strip of ribbon to separate the two panels of DSP and some Whisper White Baker's Twine add some texture along with a few randomly placed Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins... because you should always have some bling!

I found a greeting from a retired stamp set that I feel was not too formal or a sad farewell but a positive one in a font that went well with my design and papers.

The Stitched Nested Labels Dies that coordinate with the Free As A Bird stamp set ( and can be bought in a Bundle for a 10% discount) and of our course the beautiful Bird Ballad DSP just set off the embossed greeting so well.

With a beautiful designed card front of course I needed to do something on the inside and so I very lightly sponged the edge of my whisper white panel with some Pool Party ink and then fussy cut a few birds to sit down in the bottom corner. Plus, a positive extra greeting inside and it was complete.

I often procrastinate over my creations or I find projects I love from the catalogue or other talented demos and CASE them for my own needs. However, today I had a short time span to get this done and I didn't want to disappoint I just went with what was on my craft desk and I must say I was very happy with the results. As was my daughter and her work colleagues. So I do work better under pressure!

Do you often make personalised cards or oversized cards?
