Inside the Lines DSP and watercolouring

Welcome to my first blog post showing samples of new products that are coming out in the Occasions Catalogue and/or the new Sale-a-Bration brochure, starting 4 January 2017.

Today I decided to do try some watercolouring using the new "Watercolor Pencils" (13 high quality, smooth colour pencils, acid and lignen free), which can be used with Aqua Painters, Blender Pens or alone, and a pack of DSP called "Inside the Lines".

This DSP pack is only one of the new Sale-a-bration (SAB) products that will be available to earn FREE (with a $90AUD Order) from January 4th. You get 12 sheets, 3 each of four designs, and a little goes a long way!  I only used a 6" x 12" piece, that I had left off one 12 x 12 sheet after making some DSP swatches, to make four greeting cards!

Although it is not watercolour paper it handled my watercolouring well. I first added some colour in various areas with the pencils and then used an Aqua Painter to draw the colour around the images. The paper did warp a bit but after drying I put it under some books to flatten a bit more and then used extra adhesive than I normally use to help adhere it smooth to my card front.

Here is the first card that I made using a full card panel piece and adding some dimension with a bumble bee, stamped and cut using the "Dragonfly Dreams Bundle", another new product from the Occasions Catalogue.

I then used a piece that I had cut off this panel piece to create my second card and again using the Dragonfly bundle, I die cut a dragonfly in Pacific Point to add dimension to my card. I made a greeting panel using the new Stitched Framelits (which were so popular they went on backorder as the inventory sold out within two weeks, they will come back again though).

Card three was one made using Paula Dobson's as inspiration with a vellum panel. I too used Staz On ink and like the way the vellum softens the artwork but doesn't hide it.

My fourth and final card for the day was again using an offcut panel, mounting it on black cardstock, and again using a dragonfly and bumble bee to add dimension.

I really enjoyed playing with these new products today and they fit in with the current trend of Adult Colouring books...who doesn't like to go back to their childhood and colour in, it is very relaxing!
