CASE-ing the Catty - Petal Passion Suite

I went into my craft room last night with the best of intentions of finishing some kit prepping, uploading more retired stamps to sell on my Facebook business page, to do some paperwork and to sort out other administrative details...but somehow I got sidetracked with an email that popped in about CASE-ing the Catty Crew's Blog Hop...and you know where that lead - to me stamping and creating!!

What swayed me was the fact that they were CASE-ing the Petal Passion Suite in the Occasions Catalogue (p 22-24) and that is one of my favourites! I just LOVE the black & white DSP, which is so versatile for a variety or colouring and inking techniques! I also love the bundle of coordinating dies with those beautiful stamp images.

As I hadn't planned on stamping I just went with a straight CASE of one of the cards on page 22, just changing it's size from a square card to a standard sized orientation. I think I replicated the colours and elements fairly well, and I do so wish SU! would bring back the project supplies list they used to have for the catalogue projects, I will keep putting this request in the 'Sandbox' so hopefully something is provided to us again.

I sponged one of the pieces of b&w DSP with some Pool Party ink and then stamped on some additional leaves in Lemon Lime Twist, and a few flowers in Pool Party to add colour and extra elements.

I used one of the coordinating Textured Impression Embossing Folders for the first time and trimmed up the panel as well as roughing up the edges with my fingernail. I layered this piece over a strip of vellum which you can just see bordering the white panel.

I white embossed my greeting onto black cardstock, cutting it out with our lovely Stitched Framelits Dies and mounting this up with some dimensionals of course! You can never have enough dimensionals in your crafting supplies!!

I added the same flower embelishment and tried to replicate the other silver elements, which I took to be rhinestones, but I wasn't completely sure. Voila! My card was done.

This unplanned burst of creativity got the juices flowing and so I went on to make a set of three thank you cards using the new Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes on the bottom of page 19 of the Occasions Catalogue. I stayed with the b&w colour theme only adding a 'pop' of colour with my red embossed thank you!

My design for this card was CASEd from the card on the top left of page 25 of the Occasions Catalogue and adding some silver Mini Sequin Trim.

I usually go to some of my favourite challenge sites when I am stuck for ideas, inspiration or just need a platform to get the creative juices flowing, but this time it was a distraction, and one I must admit I didn't mind!
